Ranking on Competitive Terms

In certain industries brand names of the competition become generic search terms- think Kleenex. Someone searching for Kleenex may want the brand Kleenex, but it is equally as likely they just want some facial tissues. One of our clients had this issue and wanted to organically rank on the first page of Google for the term pods. To tackle the branded keyword, The Mather Group put together a comprehensive program of onsite optimization and outreach programs. The outreach programs included contests, giveaways and getting prominent websites to link back to the client’s site. We made sure that the client was using the term pods everywhere they could without causing any trademarking issues. We were able to get the client to the #2 position on Google for the term “pods” which drove 7x the traffic to the website than they were receiving on their own brand terms.
